LOCATION:
Glorious Sandown Bay is on your doorstep, and voted one of the Island’s best beaches, providing a long stretch of sand and great swimming waters. Along this stretch you can see the red sandstone through to the white chalk of Culver cliff, and it is around here that fossil remains can be found. Sandham Garden’s play area is just across the road from the apartment with go karting sky nets and crazy golf and children’s play area. A short flat walk further along towards Yaverland, and you will also find the Wild Heart Animal Sanctuary formerly the isle of Wight Zoo, famous for its big cats. The town of Sandown is brimming with attractions to entertain visitors, most of them right on the beach front itself, so you never have to stray too far from the golden sands. Should you enjoy a coastal walk, you can walk the length of Sandown Bay from Yaverland past the Pier along the seaside revetment all the way to the popular neighbouring town of Shanklin. If you are keen on an active holiday, the bay is hugely popular with water-sports, and you’ll certainly see people paddle boarding, surfing, catamaran and dingy sailing, windsurfing and kite surfing, depending on the weather.

There are plenty of attractions to keep all ages entertained long Sandown seafront. The Pier and glorious Sandown Bay are just a short walk down-hill from the property. Voted one of the island’s best beaches, so why not stretch your legs along the miles of golden sand or swim in the cooling water of the English Channel. The nine-mile stretch between Yaverland and Shanklin, with Sandown nestled in the middle, demonstrates the wonders of geology, with red sandstone through to the white chalk of Culver Cliff. On a lucky day, the remains of fossils can also be found! If you crave an active holiday, the bay is hugely popular with water sports and you’ll be sure to see people paddle boarding, surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing or catamaran and dingy sailing; weather dependent.
A short walk towards Yaverland, you will also find the Wild Heart Animal Sanctuary, famous for its big cats. This was our second year at the apartment, it was every bit as good as the first - standards haven’t slipped at all… it’s spotlessly clean, beautiful decor, very spacious, really comfy beds and pillows, everything you could possibly need is provided see more

We found it very hard with the doors being so heavy we are both disabled and I had a mobility scooter which l at to get in and out of the doors and found it very narrow to get in rounds to lifted I at to leave it down by the lifted I don’t think thsee more

It was dog friendly.Everything we could possibly need was provided. Loved that it had an Alexa. The beach hut Parking bay was provided. The Island Holiday Company staff were SO kind, friendly, attentive and helpful. There wasn’t anything we didn’t love about the property! |

Well what an unexpected delight the accomodation at 25 Breakwaters was! When we walked into the 3rd floor apartment we were instantly blown away by the fantastic panoramic views of the sea. With the tide in it was like being on a cruise ship! The balcony was private in that it had walls either side and had a lovely seating area to watch the world go by. The apartment itself was bright, light and very modern and looked brand new. The kitchen was well equipped and nothing was lacking. So overall, everything about our stay was brilliant and the beach and restaurants being on our doorstop was great too.
Although quite expensive for the three of us for a week, we would absolutely recommend. And of course, the weather was kind to us with glorious sunshine all week! It will be some time before we return as we visited the Island 6 yrs ago and our friend had not been for over 50yrs. This time we revisited some places and found some new attractions too. The beauty of the place is that due to its size, nothing is too far away, so driving is a breeze. |
